Daily digest email

Every morning at 8 AM in your timezone, Muro sends a short email that recaps yesterday and surfaces anything you should look at today.

If you only read one thing from Muro each day, this is it. The daily digest is a short email that lands at 8 AM in your project's timezone, summarizing yesterday and pulling out the insights you'd otherwise have to open the dashboard to see.

It's designed to be read with your coffee. One screen, no scrolling, no chart screenshots.

What's in the email

Every digest contains four sections, in this order:

Yesterday at a glance

A single line of headline numbers:

  • Unique visitors for yesterday.
  • The percentage change compared to the day before. Up arrow for growth, down arrow for drops, dash for flat.
  • Pageviews for yesterday.

This is the part most readers scan first.

Top page and top referrer

Two bullets:

  • Top page. The URL that got the most pageviews yesterday.
  • Top referrer. The site that sent you the most visits yesterday.

If a section has no data (for example, you got only direct traffic), it's omitted rather than shown empty.

What we noticed

Any insights from the past 24 hours, in plain language. This is the part where you'll see things like "A new country is in your top 10: Vietnam" or "producthunt.com is sending 4× more traffic than usual."

Insights are deduplicated, so the same observation doesn't appear twice. If nothing notable happened, this section simply says so.

One button at the bottom of the email takes you straight to your project's dashboard if you want to dig in.

When it arrives

The digest runs as part of an hourly cron. Every hour, Muro checks every project to see if it's now 8 AM in that project's timezone. If it is, that project's digest sends.

A few things to know:

  • The timezone is your project's, not your inbox's. If your project is set to America/New_York and you live in Bangalore, the digest arrives in your inbox at 5:30 PM local time. Set the project timezone to match the audience you serve, not where you live.
  • There's no digest on the day you create your project. Muro needs at least one full day of data before the first digest goes out. You'll get it the following morning.
  • Quiet days still send. Even if traffic was zero yesterday, you'll get a brief digest that says so. This is intentional, so you know Muro is still watching.

Turning the digest on or off

The digest is on by default. To turn it off:

  1. Open Settings → Notifications.
  2. Toggle Daily digest off.

You can turn it back on at any time, and the change takes effect with the next morning's run.

If you have multiple projects, the digest setting is per-account, not per-project. Turning it off mutes the digest for every project at once.

Changing the time or the recipient

The digest always sends at 8 AM in the project's timezone, and always to the email address on your account. Neither is configurable today.

  • To change the time, change the project's timezone in Settings → Project. The digest will move with it.
  • To change the recipient, you'd need to change the email on your account, which is currently a support-only operation.
