Connect Slack

Post your project's daily digest, and tracking-stopped alerts, to a Slack channel you choose.

Connect Slack to get each morning's digest in a channel where your team already talks. Muro posts the same summary as the daily digest email, at 8 AM in the project's timezone.

Slack is set up per project by the project owner. Members can't connect or change it.

Connect a channel

Open notifications

Select the project in the project switcher, then go to Settings → Notifications. The Slack section says "Post the daily digest to a Slack channel at 8 AM in your project's timezone."

Click Connect Now

Click Connect Now. Slack opens in a new tab.

Pick a channel

Choose your workspace and the channel Muro should post to, then click Allow.

Muro asks Slack only for permission to post to that one channel (an incoming webhook). It can't read your messages, channels or members.

Check the connection

Back in Muro, the section shows "Posting to #channel · Workspace". Click Send test to post a test message. You should see "Test message sent."

To post to a different channel, click Disconnect and connect again.

What Muro posts

Every morning at 8 AM project time, one message covering yesterday:

  • A header with the project name and date.
  • Four numbers, each with its change from the day before: Unique Visitors, Pageviews, Bounce Rate and Avg Session.
  • Top referrer and Top page.
  • Needs your attention: up to 3 active insights, each with a "Next step:" line linking back to Muro.
  • A View dashboard button.

Like the email, Slack never shows New source or New country insights, and an insight's page paths, event names and goal names are replaced with "one of your pages", "a custom event" or "one of your goals". Days with zero pageviews are skipped.

The Slack post doesn't depend on your email digest setting. You can turn the email off and keep Slack, or have both.

Tracking-stopped alerts in Slack

If you turned on Email me if tracking stops, Muro also posts the alert to the connected channel when tracking stops on this project. See Tracking-stopped alerts.

Disconnect

Click Disconnect, then confirm in "Disconnect Slack?". The digest stops posting to that channel. You can reconnect at any time.

If Slack shows "Slack disconnected"

If someone deletes the channel or removes the Muro app from your workspace, Slack stops accepting posts. The section then shows "Slack disconnected (the channel or app was removed). Reconnect to resume the digest." Click Reconnect and pick a channel again.

Verify it works

  1. In Settings → Notifications, the Slack section shows "Posting to" with your channel.
  2. Click Send test and check the channel for the message.
  3. If you see "Couldn't deliver. Try reconnecting.", click Disconnect, then Connect Now again.
