Plans and the free trial
How the 30-day trial works, what Starter and Team include, and how to change plans, find invoices and handle a failed payment.
Every account starts with a 30-day free trial that includes everything. After that you pick Starter or Team, priced by how many pageviews you get each month. This page covers what each plan includes and how billing works. For current prices, see muroanalytics.com/pricing.
You manage everything here from the user menu → Billing.
The free trial
- 30 days, no card needed. The trial starts when you sign up.
- Every feature is included, the same as Team: sessions, Shopify revenue, the Links API and team members.
- No pageview cap. Trials aren't limited to a monthly number of pageviews.
- Subscribe whenever you like. Billing shows a plan picker for the whole trial.
When the trial is ending
- A banner appears at the top of the dashboard when 3 days are left ("Your free trial ends in 3 days"), and changes to "Your free trial ends tomorrow" on the last day. You can dismiss it for a day.
- You get emails 3 days before the end, 1 day before, and when the trial ends.
When the trial ends
If you haven't subscribed by the end of the trial:
- The banner reads "Your free trial has ended. Upgrade now → to continue using Muro." It can't be dismissed.
- New events are paused. Your sites can keep sending them, but Muro doesn't store them. Traffic from this time isn't recorded later, so the sooner you subscribe, the less you miss.
- Your data is safe. The dashboard and all your history stay viewable.
- Insights pause until collection resumes.
To resume, open Billing, choose a plan under Choose a plan to continue and check out. Collection starts again straight away and you don't need to reinstall anything. See Events are paused for the other reasons collection can stop.
Starter and Team
Both plans include unlimited websites, the dashboard, rule-based Insights, the daily digest, tracking-stopped alerts, the Slack digest, goals and Muro Links.
- Starter is "For solo founders — unlimited websites, just you".
- Team is "For growing products — sessions, Shopify revenue, API and 6 teammates per project".
| Starter | Team | |
|---|---|---|
| Websites | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Goals | 10 per project | 10 per project |
| Sessions (visitor journeys) | No | Yes |
| Shopify revenue amounts | No | Yes |
| Links API access | No | Yes |
| Team members | No | 6 per project |
| Short links | 25 | 500 |
| Link tags | 25 | 200 |
| UTM templates | 100 | 100 |
On Starter you can still add the Shopify tracking script and the Muro pixel. Revenue amounts need Team.
Pageview volume
Each plan comes in several monthly pageview sizes, from 100,000 up to 5,000,000. Choose a size with the slider on Billing. If you pick a size below what you're already using, Billing warns you that events may be dropped. See Pageview limits for what counts and what happens when you reach the limit.
Monthly or annual
The Monthly / Annual toggle on Billing switches how you're billed. Annual billing works out at about two months free ("Save 17%"). Both include the same features and pageview sizes.
Subscribe
Open Billing
Open the user menu in the top right and choose Billing.
Pick your volume and billing period
Move the slider to the monthly pageviews you need, then choose Monthly or Annual.
Choose a plan
Click Subscribe on Starter or Team. You go to a secure checkout to pay.
Come back to Muro
After payment you return to Billing with "Subscription activated — you're all set!". A confirmation email follows.
Change your plan
Once you're subscribed, Billing shows a Change plan section with the same slider and toggle.
Pick the new plan
Choose a volume, Monthly or Annual, and click Upgrade or Downgrade on Starter or Team. Your current combination shows Current plan.
Check the preview
A dialog shows the new plan, the amount Charged today, the New monthly limit and your Next billing date. The amount is prorated for the rest of your current billing period.
Confirm
Click Confirm & pay. The amount is charged to your payment method on file and your plan updates right away ("Plan updated — your new limits are active").
Moving from Team to Starter suspends your project members and revokes your API key. Members get access back if you return to Team. You'll need to generate a new API key.
Manage your subscription
Manage subscription on Billing opens the billing portal in a new tab. Use it to update your card or billing details, or to cancel. You get an email confirming a cancellation and when your access ends. Your data stays in your account after that, and you can resubscribe at any time.
Invoices
Once you've paid, an Invoices list appears at the bottom of Billing, showing the date, invoice number and amount of each payment. Click PDF to download an invoice.
If a payment fails
If a renewal payment doesn't go through:
- On hold. Your subscription goes on hold and you get an email titled "Action needed: your Muro Analytics payment didn't go through". Billing shows "Payment pending — your subscription is temporarily on hold. We'll retry automatically." Events keep being collected while the payment is retried.
- Failed. If the retries don't succeed, the banner reads "Your last payment failed. New events are paused." and Billing shows Subscription payment failed. Your data is safe and stays viewable, but new events aren't stored. Members lose access and your API key stops working.
To fix it, update your card through Manage subscription while the subscription is on hold. Once it has failed, choose a plan on Billing to subscribe again.
Lifetime deals
If you bought Muro on a deal platform such as RocketHub, you have a code to redeem instead of a subscription. Billing links to it with "Bought a lifetime deal? Redeem your code". See Redeem a lifetime code.
